Nan-Yao Su Desmodium Fund

Prof. Zeyaur Khan won the Nan-Yao Su Award for innovation and creativity in Entomology in the year 2010. Prof. Khan received his award at a ceremony conducted at ESA’s annual scientific meeting in San Diego, during the Opening Plenary Session on the evening of Sunday, December 12, 2010. He received an inscribed plaque and $2,000 cash award, which he donated for the purchase of desmodium seed for resource-poor farmers who cannot afford to buy the seeds. This money has been put on a desmodium revolving fund to help new farmers in collaboration with Heifer Project International, Kenya and Heifer Project International, Tanzania to adopt Push-Pull technology. The fund will ensure sustainable, self-perpetuating supply of desmodium seed in eastern Africa.
